Butterfly valve is a kind of valve that uses a round butterfly plate as an opening and closing part and rotates with the stem to open, close and adjust the fluid channel. The butterfly plate of the butterfly valve is installed in the diameter direction of the pipeline, and in the cylindrical channel of the butterfly valve body, the disc-shaped butterfly plate rotates around the axis, and only needs to rotate 90° to complete the opening and closing. The butterfly valve has the characteristics of simple structure, material consumption, small size, light weight, small installation size, small driving torque, simple and rapid operation, and also has good flow regulation function and closing sealing characteristics, which is used to cut, turn on and adjust the medium in the pipeline. In the field of use of large and medium diameter, medium and low pressure, butterfly valves are the dominant valve form, and partially replace globe valves, gate valves and ball valves. There are manual, worm gear drive, electric, pneumatic, hydraulic, electro-hydraulic linkage and other actuator drive forms, which can realize remote control and automatic operation.
The butterfly valve connection methods include flange connection, butt clamp connection, butt weld connection and lug clamp connection. The clamp-on butterfly valve is to connect the valve between the two pipeline flanges with a double-ended bolt, and the flanged butterfly valve is a valve with a flange, and the flanges at both ends of the valve are connected to the pipe flange with bolts.

☆Small fluid resistance: the effective circulation area of medium and large diameter butterfly valves is larger when fully opened;
☆Opening and closing isconvenient and quick and relatively labor-saving: the butterfly plate can be opened and closed by rotating at an angle of 90°, and the butterfly plate on both sides of the rotating shaft is close to equal by the medium force, and the torque direction generated is opposite, so the opening and closing torque is small;
☆Good sealing can be achieved under low pressure: most butterfly valves use rubber sealing rings, so the sealing performance is better;
☆Good adjustment performance: the flow rate of the medium can be better controlled by changing the rotation angle of the butterfly plate;
☆The use pressure and working temperaturerange of ordinary butterfly valves are small: generally rubber sealing rings are used, and the use pressure and working temperature are limited by the sealing ring material. The development of sealing ring materials and the application of metal hard seal butterfly valve can expand the service pressure and operating temperature range of butterfly valve;
☆When fully open, the flow rate of the medium in the tube is not more than 5m/s.
